Make corruption a thing of passé

CM Khandu leads koi kisise kam nehi team

Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his cabinet members seemingly are koi kise kam nehi (none is inferior to none). This was substantiated by Agriculture Minister Wangki Lowang during an informal discussion with  this daily’s editor and CEO HP Biswas at his Deomali residence on  25.03.17 after inaugurating a skill development training of  National Youth Project (NYP) there.

Giving a hypothetical example of corruption, Lowang said that after Lord Ram’s brother Laxman had fainted after hit by Nagban of Indrajit, Hanuman was sent to Dronagiri mountain in the Himalayas to collect Sajivani, a powerful life-restoring herb, to save him. But, he uprooted a hillock for his failure to identify the herb.

The auditor objected that Hanuman was not entitled for travelling allowance for there was no provision for flying and instead of Bishalyakarani he had brought a hillock.    After Hanuman pleased the auditor by giving him 20% of claimed TA in advance, he recalled the file to wrote: “It may be considered as a special case for saving life”.

What was a unique example of corruption among the gods and their account keepers? Likewise, when King Indra, frightened by the powers of Vishwamitra, one of the most respected and revered sages in ancient India, sent most beautiful celestial nymph Menaka from heaven to earth to break his meditation and tempt him by her beauty. Menaka succeeded in breaking the meditation by inciting Vishwamitra’s lust and passion. Vishwamitra enraged on realizing Indra’s trick  had cursed Menaka to be separated from him forever. Was that not a moral turpitude?

‘Team Arunachal’ is true mantra for all-round development of Arunachal Pradesh by cooperating with each other, CM Khandu had  told the state assembly on 08.03.17 while taking part in discussion on motion of thanks to governor’s address.

Advocating change in mindset for purity, honesty, transparency & accountability, Khandu had reiterated to review the works of every minister as to what he has done going out of the way for the masses but announced to reward good doers and punish wrong doers.

Rising number of educated unemployed youths call for a pragmatic policy, he said, adding jobs should be on merit basis not on political recommendation, which would bring a sea change in the minds of the youth and check corruption.

After Kento Rina urged the members to unite to root out corruption with iron hands, Lombo Tayeng pitched in to add: Corruption is in everyone’s blood and steps should be taken to root it out.

The proposed Lokayukt  proved the intention to fight against corruption, Gabriel D Wangsu said with conviction.

Suggesting to evolve a strong mechanism to monitor all schemes to check corruption, Nikh Kamin on 14.03.17 had said that the Budget, prepared by few, did not reflect the ‘Team Arunachal’ spirit of the GoAP.

Corruption, being a mental state of affair, could be uprooted only when the masses stand together to make the society corruption free. The need of the hour is to change of mindset to not accept corruption in any form by anyone of the society which would certainly make corruption a thing of passé.
